Their own things

Your child's own space

A Wigmore string bag

Every child gets their own Wigmore string bag. Fill it up with spare clothes, nappies and wipes, and it comes back and forth each day.

Their own tray

A tray with their name on, for their things and everything they make.

Their own coat peg

A named peg for their coat and bag, so they know exactly where their things live.

Chilled lunch trolley

Packed lunches go straight into our chilled lunch trolley and stay cool until lunchtime.

Helping your child settle

Keep a routine

Coming on the same days at the same time helps your child know what to expect.

Arrive on time

Joining at the start of a session is easier than walking into a busy room.

Talk it up

Talk positively about pre-school at home, and about the friends and key person they will see.

Say goodbye

A short, cheerful goodbye works best. We will call you if your child needs you.

Questions

Lunch, snacks and outdoor play

Do you provide lunch?

Children bring a packed lunch, which we eat together from 12 to 12.30. We do not run a hot lunch club.

What should a packed lunch include?

Something from each food group: fruit, vegetables, a starchy food such as bread or pasta, a protein and a dairy food. Water, milk or a low-sugar drink.

What can’t my child bring?

Please avoid nuts and eggs (because of allergies), sweets, chocolate, crisps, sugary drinks and processed meats.

Do children go outside in winter?

Yes, every day. Please send a named coat, and wellies on wet days.
